The concepts behind my practice are often focused on everyday objects and the memories associated with them. My work is personal documentation of these personal memories and the emotions connected to these objects. Items that at first, appear old and disposable; hand writing on scraps of paper, old notebooks, worn shoes, or a favourite cup with a chip in its side. I find that these are the items that are really personal and hold the most value as they convey the essence of their owner.
I often work using white cotton or calico, as these fabrics excite me like a blank canvas before its painted on. Also the possibilities of how they can be transformed is endless. The processes I employ, include ; surface colour (paint and dye ) print making, hand and machine stitch. I work mainly as a 3D and installation artist, as this invites the viewer to engage directly with the objects in the context of their environment.
